Ashok Siddharth Must Resign, Mayawati Sets Condition for Akash Anand’s Return to Key BSP Role

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati has once again taken a major decision regarding the return of her nephew Akash Anand to the party. The move is being seen as the third U-turn regarding Akash Anand’s political future.

Mayawati has made it clear that Akash Anand will be given an important responsibility in the party only after his father-in-law and former Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Siddharth completely retires from politics.

Mayawati Shares Her Stand on X

Mayawati shared her views through a post on social media platform X. She said that only after Ashok Siddharth fulfills this condition will Akash Anand be able to work independently in the party without any pressure.

After that, the party will consider sympathetically restoring his earlier responsibilities.

Akash Anand’s Role Has Seen Several Changes

Akash Anand, the son of Mayawati’s brother Anand Kumar, was once being considered the political successor of the BSP supremo. However, since 2024, there have been repeated changes in his responsibilities within the party.

He was promoted to important positions on several occasions and was later removed from those posts. A similar situation was seen with his father-in-law Ashok Siddharth.

Siddharth was completely expelled from the BSP in 2025, after which his return became possible. Now, the party leadership has once again taken a decision concerning both of them.

Mayawati Had Earlier Advised Akash

Referring to the past, Mayawati said that she had earlier advised Akash Anand to stay away from the influence of his father-in-law. Siddharth was also expelled from the party in August.

Mayawati alleged that Ashok Siddharth placed his personal and family interests above the Bahujan mission, due to which both he and his son-in-law Akash Anand suffered losses.

She said the party had given Siddharth several opportunities to improve, but he did not care about the mission.

Mayawati said Ashok Siddharth still has an opportunity to give up his political ambitions in the interest of his son-in-law’s future and the party.

Upcoming Elections Called Important for the Dalit-Bahujan Movement

Referring to the upcoming elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab, Mayawati described them as extremely important for the Dalit-Bahujan movement.

She cautioned that reservation and the movement are facing several challenges. Therefore, no one from the community should take any step out of personal interest that could harm the movement.

All eyes are now on Ashok Siddharth’s decision.
