NRHM Scam | BSP"S Former MLA Mukesh Srivastava Faces Fresh Trouble, ED Registers Money Laundering Case

Former MLA Mukesh Srivastava alias Gyanendra Pratap, who has been accused in the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam and a disproportionate assets case, is facing fresh trouble. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered a money laundering case against him. Earlier, the Vigilance Department had registered a case against him in connection with corruption allegations.

Vigilance Arrested Him on June 10

The Vigilance Department arrested the former MLA on June 10 in connection with the disproportionate assets case from Lucknow's Web Mall. According to the Vigilance investigation, his legitimate income during the specified period was around Rs 1.12 crore, while around Rs 1.80 crore was spent on purchasing and maintaining assets.

This resulted in alleged expenditure of around Rs 67.30 lakh more than his known sources of income.

Probe Into Alleged Irregularities in NRHM-Linked Cases

Investigations into cases linked to the NRHM scam are underway in Shravasti, Balrampur, Gonda and Bahraich over alleged irregularities in works and purchases carried out under health schemes.

The probe is examining allegations including full payments despite work not being carried out or only partially completed, purchases at higher rates and irregularities in the supply of medicines.

ED to Probe Source and Use of Funds

Based on these findings, the ED has registered a money laundering case against the former MLA. The ED had recently sought the Vigilance Department's investigation report available so far.

The agency will now examine the source of the former MLA's funds and how the money was allegedly used.

The investigation so far has also indicated that the former MLA and his associates had transferred alleged illicit funds through various companies. The ED will also examine the bank accounts of the former MLA and those of companies linked to him.
